At the heart of Model 5854 is Ruger's fixed-piston, self-cleaning gas system combined with a Garand-style rotating bolt. This proven operating system is engineered to provide dependable cycling while minimizing fouling and reducing maintenance, even under demanding field conditions.

Model 5854 is built with a blued alloy-steel receiver and barrel paired with a durable black synthetic stock.
