The Ruger Vaquero® SASS® Model 5133 is a special competition-oriented version of Ruger’s classic single-action revolver, developed for the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and cowboy-action shooting. Chambered in .357 Magnum and also capable of firing .38 Special, Model 5133 features a 4.62-inch barrel, high-gloss stainless-steel construction, lowered Montado-style hammer, competition-oriented sights, and distinctive SASS grip medallions.

What makes Model 5133 particularly distinctive is that Ruger packages these revolvers as a matched two-gun set with consecutive serial numbers. Each revolver carries a special serial number beginning with the “SASS” prefix, and the pair is supplied together in a fitted red carry case. This factory-paired configuration was specifically designed with cowboy-action competitors in mind.

Ruger's reverse-indexing pawl positively aligns the cylinder with the loading-gate cutout to simplify loading and unloading, while a beveled cylinder helps facilitate smooth holstering.

For modern safety, Ruger's single-action design incorporates a transfer-bar mechanism, allowing all six chambers to be safely loaded when the revolver is handled in accordance with Ruger's instructions.
