Model 3600013 uses an external-hammer, single-action operating system with an ambidextrous thumb safety. Kimber's manual confirms that the CDS9 operates as a recoil-operated, closed-breech, single-action semi-automatic and incorporates multiple safety systems, including the thumb safety, sear disconnect, firing-pin block and hammer safety notch.
