The Kimber CDS9 OR Model 3600004 is a compact, optics-ready 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol designed around Kimber’s Covert Double Stack platform. This configuration combines a 3.64-inch threaded barrel, 13+1 / 15+1 capacity, aluminum frame, KimPro II Gray slide, RMSc-compatible optics cut, ambidextrous controls, and double-stack magazine system in a lightweight carry-oriented package.

Unlike the standard CDS9 configurations with a 3.18-inch barrel, Model 3600004 uses an extended 3.64-inch threaded barrel. The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28, and Davidson’s specifically identifies the pistol as both threaded-barrel and suppressor-ready. Kimber’s CDS9 manual confirms that threaded CDS9 models are designed to use a thread protector when no compatible muzzle attachment is installed.

The pistol is built around a lightweight aluminum frame with a KimPro II Black frame finish, while the slide receives a contrasting KimPro II Gray finish. Davidson’s lists an unloaded weight of just 20.8 ounces and an overall length of 6.7 inches, providing substantial capacity without the weight of a full-size metal-frame pistol.

Model 3600004 features an external-hammer firing system and flat-faced trigger. An ambidextrous thumb safety is standard, and Kimber designed the CDS9 with fully ambidextrous operation and a reversible magazine release. The pistol also incorporates a stacked recoil spring assembly that Kimber says is designed for increased service life.

For optics, the CDS9 OR features a factory optic cut compatible with RMSc-footprint optics, allowing many popular micro red-dot sights to be installed. Factory iron sights consist of a fiber-optic front sight and adjustable rear sight.

The aluminum frame incorporates a front accessory rail for compatible lights or lasers along with a Frag-checkered front strap for additional grip. This particular configuration is fitted with distinctive Orange VZ Frag G10 grips, creating a strong contrast against the gray and black firearm finish.

The CDS9 uses a double-stack magazine system and Model 3600004 ships with two magazines. Davidson’s lists capacities of 13+1 and 15+1, making the CDS9 a high-capacity option despite its compact dimensions.
