One of the key differences between Model 1754 and Model 1755 is the rear sight. Model 1754 uses a fixed Novak LoMount Carry rear sight, paired with a bright fiber-optic front sight for a fast, highly visible sight picture. This makes the 1754 particularly well suited to competition disciplines where quick target acquisition and transitions are priorities.
The Match Champion receives substantial attention to its internal action. Ruger uses polished and optimized internal components, a centering boss on the trigger, and centering shims on the hammer to produce a smooth double-action trigger pull with a crisp and consistent let-off. These factory enhancements distinguish the Match Champion from a standard GP100.
The revolver features a 4.20-inch half-lug barrel with an 11-degree target crown. The half-lug profile is designed to provide lively handling and facilitate quick transitions between targets, while the target crown supports competition-level accuracy.
Ruger equips Model 1754 with a custom Hogue stippled hardwood grip designed specifically for competition shooting. The stippled sides provide additional texture for a secure grip while maintaining the premium appearance of natural hardwood.
The revolver's triple-locking contoured cylinder locks into the frame at the front, rear, and bottom for positive alignment. Ruger also lightly chamfers the ejector and chamber mouths to aid loading, an especially useful feature during timed competition stages.
