The Ruger SR1911® Commander-Style Model 6702 is a classic .45 Auto (ACP) single-action 1911 pistol that combines the proven handling characteristics of the Commander platform with Ruger's precision manufacturing and premium factory features. Featuring a 4.25-inch stainless-steel barrel, 7+1-round capacity, all stainless-steel construction, Novak® 3-dot sights, skeletonized trigger and hammer, and Series 70-style fire control, the SR1911 Commander-Style 6702 offers a balance of shootability, reliability, and traditional 1911 styling.
Built entirely from low-glare satin stainless steel, the frame and slide are precision CNC-machined to provide an exceptional slide-to-frame fit and smooth cycling. Ruger machines the barrel and barrel bushing from the same bar stock on the same machine, promoting consistent lock-up and excellent out-of-the-box accuracy.
The Commander-length 4.25-inch barrel offers a shorter overall profile than a Government model while retaining a full-size grip frame. Chambered in .45 ACP, the pistol utilizes a 1:16-inch right-hand twist with six-groove rifling. At approximately 36 ounces unloaded, it delivers excellent balance and recoil control without sacrificing durability.
Model 6702 uses the traditional Series 70-style single-action trigger system enhanced by a lightweight aluminum skeletonized trigger for a crisp break with minimal creep and a short reset. Ruger also incorporates a skeletonized hammer and titanium firing pin, providing faster lock time while eliminating the need for a firing-pin safety.
The pistol is equipped with Novak® 3-dot sights, including a fixed front sight and windage-adjustable rear sight for rapid target acquisition. Ruger also includes an oversized beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety, extended slide stop, oversized magazine release, and a lowered and flared ejection port to enhance reliability and ease of operation.
Additional premium features include an integral plunger tube machined directly into the frame, a flat checkered mainspring housing, checkered hardwood grip panels, and a loaded chamber inspection port. Like other SR1911 models, the Commander-Style accepts most standard aftermarket 1911 components and accessories.
