The Ruger SR1911® Commander Model 6711 is a traditional .45 Auto single-action 1911 pistol built with an all stainless-steel frame and slide, a 4.25-inch barrel, and the classic Commander-length profile. Featuring a 7+1-round capacity, Novak® 3-dot sights, skeletonized trigger and hammer, oversized beavertail grip safety, and Series 70-style fire control system, the SR1911 Commander delivers the timeless handling of the 1911 platform with modern manufacturing and premium factory features.
The Commander-length 4.25-inch barrel provides a balance between the full-size Government model and more compact carry pistols. Ruger machines the stainless-steel barrel and barrel bushing from the same bar stock on the same machine, promoting precise barrel lockup and excellent out-of-the-box accuracy. The pistol utilizes a 1:16" right-hand twist with six-groove rifling.
Model 6711 is constructed entirely from low-glare stainless steel, including both the frame and slide. Ruger's precision CNC machining results in an exceptionally tight slide-to-frame fit while maintaining smooth operation. The pistol weighs 36.4 ounces unloaded, offering excellent balance and recoil control in the Commander configuration.
The SR1911 Commander retains the classic single-action, Series 70-style operating system while incorporating numerous upgraded components. A lightweight aluminum skeletonized trigger provides a crisp trigger pull with minimal creep and a short positive reset. Ruger also installs a skeletonized hammer and lightweight titanium firing pin for faster lock time while eliminating the need for a firing-pin block.
For controls, Model 6711 includes an oversized beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety, extended slide stop, and oversized magazine release for positive manipulation. An integral plunger tube is machined directly into the frame rather than staked, increasing long-term durability. A lowered and flared ejection port further enhances reliable ejection.
The pistol features Novak® 3-dot sights, consisting of a fixed front sight and a windage-adjustable rear sight, providing a highly visible sight picture suitable for both defensive and range use. An inspection port allows visual confirmation of a loaded or empty chamber.
Traditional checkered hardwood grip panels and a checkered flat mainspring housing complete the classic appearance while improving control during firing. Ruger also designs the SR1911 to accept most standard aftermarket 1911 parts and accessories, allowing owners to customize the pistol if desired.
The SR1911 Commander ships with two stainless-steel 7-round magazines, making it ready for the range right out of the box.
