The Ruger American Rifle Generation II Standard Model 46915 is a modern .300 Winchester Magnum bolt-action rifle that combines magnum hunting capability with Ruger’s redesigned Gen II stock, spiral-fluted barrel, Cerakote protection, adjustable trigger, three-position safety, threaded muzzle, and factory-installed Picatinny scope base. Ruger confirms this exact configuration as Model 46915 / UPC 736676469154.
Chambered in .300 Win Mag, Model 46915 features a 20-inch cold hammer-forged, medium-contour barrel with deep spiral fluting. The flutes reduce weight toward the muzzle to improve balance while maintaining barrel stiffness. The barrel uses a 1:10" right-hand twist with five grooves.
The muzzle is threaded 5/8"-24 and comes from the factory with a radial-port muzzle brake. Ruger applies its Gun Metal Gray Cerakote to the barrel, muzzle brake, receiver, and bolt handle for increased corrosion and wear resistance.
The rifle uses Ruger’s Gray Splatter Gen II American synthetic stock, which incorporates a textured splatter finish for additional grip without an overly aggressive surface. A soft rubber recoil pad uses a progressively collapsing design to help reduce felt recoil—an especially useful feature on a lightweight .300 Win Mag.
Fit can be adjusted through the stock’s 12"–13.75" length-of-pull system. Removing the installed spacer shortens the length of pull to 12 inches, while additional spacers are available for further customization. The installed low comb can also be removed or exchanged to better accommodate different optic heights.
The American Gen II uses Ruger’s Marksman Adjustable™ trigger, which provides a user-adjustable 3–5 lb. pull weight. Ruger also incorporates its Power Bedding™ integral bedding block system, which positively locates the receiver while free-floating the barrel.
Another important Gen II feature is the three-position tang safety. The system can lock the bolt to help prevent inadvertent opening while still allowing the rifle to be loaded with the safety engaged.
The one-piece bolt is CNC-machined from stainless steel and uses a three-lug design with a 70-degree bolt throw for additional scope clearance. An oversized bolt handle improves manipulation and uses a 5/16"-24 thread pattern, allowing replacement with compatible aftermarket handles.
Because of the .300 Win Mag chambering, Model 46915 uses a 3-round single-stack magazine rather than the 4-round flush-fit magazine found on some other Gen II Standard chamberings. One magazine is included. The rifle has no iron sights and instead comes with a factory-installed one-piece Picatinny scope base.
At just 6.4 pounds with a 41.75-inch overall length, the Ruger American Gen II 46915 provides substantial magnum capability in a relatively lightweight hunting-rifle package. Ruger also offers an optional stock weight kit that can add up to 1.6 pounds to the buttstock to help absorb recoil or balance heavier muzzle devices.
