The Ruger Precision Rimfire® Model 8400 is a precision-built .22 LR bolt-action rifle engineered to replicate the ergonomics and manual of arms of the Ruger Precision Rifle centerfire platform. Featuring an 18-inch cold hammer-forged threaded barrel, 15-round BX-15® magazine, fully adjustable Precision Rimfire stock, 15-inch free-float M-LOK® handguard, and Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ trigger, the 8400 is ideal for precision training, NRL22 competition, and long-range rimfire shooting.
Designed as a true trainer, the Precision Rimfire shares the same chassis-style layout as its larger centerfire counterpart. The molded one-piece chassis incorporates a Quick-Fit adjustable buttstock with tool-free adjustment for length of pull and comb height, allowing shooters of virtually any size to achieve a proper fit. Molded reference marks make returning to preferred settings quick and repeatable.
A unique Big-Gun Bolt Throw Adjustment allows shooters to switch between the standard 1.5-inch rimfire bolt throw and a 3-inch centerfire-style bolt throw, helping develop consistent muscle memory for centerfire precision rifles while reducing the chance of short-stroking during competition.
The rifle features an 18-inch cold hammer-forged alloy steel target barrel with a 1:16" right-hand twist. The muzzle is threaded 1/2"-28 and ships with a factory thread protector, allowing installation of compatible muzzle devices or suppressors where legally permitted.
The 15-inch free-float aluminum handguard is hard-coat anodized and incorporates Magpul® M-LOK® slots on all four sides for easy mounting of bipods, sling attachments, lights, and other accessories. A factory-installed 30 MOA Picatinny scope base provides additional elevation adjustment for long-range rimfire optics.
Model 8400 utilizes the Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ Trigger, which can be externally adjusted from 2.25 to 5 pounds without disassembling the rifle. The adjustment wrench is conveniently stored inside the buttstock compartment. The rifle also features an oversized bolt handle, AR-pattern pistol grip, and a reversible 45-degree safety selector.
The rifle feeds from the included BX-15® 15-round rotary magazine and is also compatible with Ruger 10/22®-pattern magazines. At 6.8 pounds, the Precision Rimfire offers excellent balance for positional shooting while remaining light enough for extended range sessions.
