The Ruger Security-380 Model 3854 is a state-compliant .380 Auto semi-automatic pistol featuring Ruger’s Lite Rack™ system, a factory-installed Hogue® Beavertail™ HandALL® grip sleeve, 10+1 capacity, fiber-optic front sight, manual safety, and three included 10-round magazines. Ruger specifically lists this configuration as Massachusetts approved and identifies it as Model 3854 / UPC 736676038541.

The defining feature of Model 3854 is its factory Hogue Beavertail HandALL grip sleeve. The sleeve incorporates Hogue’s Cobblestone texturing, finger grooves, and gentle palm swells, distinguishing the 3854 from standard Security-380 configurations.

Ruger’s Lite Rack™ system incorporates refined slide serrations, pronounced rear cocking ears, and a lighter recoil spring to reduce the effort required to manipulate the slide. Combined with the relatively low recoil of .380 Auto, Ruger positions the system as particularly useful for training and practice.

The pistol is chambered in .380 Auto with a factory capacity of 10+1 rounds. Importantly, Model 3854 ships with three 10-round alloy-steel magazines, rather than the mixed 10- and 15-round magazine package found with several other Security-380 models.

Its 3.42-inch alloy-steel barrel receives a Black Oxide finish and uses six grooves with a 1:10" right-hand twist. The through-hardened alloy-steel slide is also finished in Black Oxide.

For sights, Ruger equips Model 3854 with a bright fiber-optic front sight and a drift-adjustable steel rear sight. The rear sight incorporates a vertical edge, while the bright front fiber optic provides improved visibility.

The pistol uses Ruger’s Secure Action™ fire-control system, combining a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger. Ruger describes the system as providing a short, smooth trigger pull with a clean break and positive reset.

Safety features include an integrated trigger safety, external manual safety, neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension, and hammer catch designed to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.

Construction includes a one-piece precision-machined fire-control chassis, through-hardened alloy-steel slide, and high-performance glass-filled nylon grip frame with an accessory rail. Takedown requires no special tools and does not require pulling the trigger.

At 20.3 ounces, the 3854 measures 6.52 inches overall, 4.35 inches high, and has a 1.02-inch slide width. Ruger currently lists the model as Available, with a suggested retail price of $409.00.
