The Ruger Security-380 Model 3839 is a compact .380 Auto semi-automatic pistol built around Ruger’s Lite Rack™ system and Secure Action™ fire-control system. This standard black configuration features a 3.42-inch alloy-steel barrel, 15+1 maximum capacity, fiber-optic front sight, drift-adjustable rear sight, manual safety, accessory rail, and both 15-round and 10-round magazines. Ruger identifies the exact configuration as Model 3839 / UPC 736676038398.

The Lite Rack™ system is one of the Security-380’s defining features. Ruger uses refined slide serrations, pronounced rear cocking ears, and a lighter recoil spring to reduce the effort required to manipulate the slide. Combined with the .380 Auto chambering, Ruger designed the system to provide easy operation and reduced recoil during training and practice.

Model 3839 is chambered in .380 Auto (.380 ACP) and provides a maximum factory capacity of 15+1 rounds. It ships with two alloy-steel magazines—one 15-round magazine and one 10-round magazine—giving the shooter the option of a shorter or extended-capacity configuration.

The pistol uses a 3.42-inch alloy-steel barrel with a Black Oxide finish. Rifling consists of six grooves with a 1:10" right-hand twist. The slide is constructed from through-hardened alloy steel and also receives a Black Oxide finish.

For sighting, Ruger equips the Security-380 with a bright fiber-optic front sight and a drift-adjustable steel rear sight. The rear sight incorporates a vertical edge, while the fiber-optic front provides a highly visible aiming point.

The pistol incorporates Ruger’s Secure Action™ fire-control system, which combines a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger. Ruger describes the trigger as providing a short, smooth pull, clean break, and positive reset.

Safety features include an integrated trigger safety, external manual safety, neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension, and hammer catch designed to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.

Construction consists of a through-hardened alloy-steel slide, one-piece precision-machined fire-control chassis, and textured high-performance glass-filled nylon grip frame. The frame also incorporates an accessory rail for compatible lights and other accessories. Ruger designed the pistol for easy takedown without special tools or requiring the trigger to be pulled.

At 19.7 ounces, Model 3839 measures 6.52 inches overall, 4.35 inches high, and has a 1.02-inch slide width. Ruger currently lists the model as Available, with a suggested retail price of $389.00.
