The Ruger Security-9 Model 3840 is a Davidson’s Distributor Exclusive 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol distinguished by its factory Battleworn Flag Cerakote slide and grip frame. This full-size Security-9 configuration combines a 4-inch barrel, 15+1 capacity, manual safety, Secure Action™ fire-control system, drift-adjustable sights, and two included alloy-steel magazines. The defining feature of Model 3840 is its Battleworn Flag Cerakote treatment. Ruger specifically lists both the through-hardened alloy-steel slide and high-performance glass-filled nylon grip frame with the Battleworn Flag Cerakote treatment, making this the key visual distinction from standard black Security-9 configurations.

Chambered in 9mm Luger, Model 3840 provides a factory capacity of 15+1 rounds and ships with two alloy-steel magazines. The pistol uses a 4-inch alloy-steel barrel with a blued finish, six grooves, and a 1:10" right-hand twist.

The Security-9 incorporates Ruger’s Secure Action™ fire-control system, combining a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger. Ruger describes the trigger as having a short, smooth pull, clean break, and positive reset. The internal hammer also provides strong ignition force while allowing easier slide manipulation than many striker-fired designs.

Model 3840 is equipped with an external manual safety in addition to an integrated trigger safety.
