The Ruger 10/22 Competition Model 31120 takes the legendary 10/22 platform and upgrades it with purpose-built competition and precision-shooting features from the Ruger Custom Shop®. Chambered in .22 LR, Model 31120 features a 16.12-inch cold hammer-forged fluted bull barrel, BX-Trigger®, match-grade bolt, dual bedding system, adjustable laminate stock, 30 MOA Picatinny rail, and threaded muzzle.
The rifle is built around a hard-coat-anodized, CNC-machined aluminum receiver manufactured from heat-treated and stress-relieved aluminum. Ruger designed the receiver and bolt interface to provide a smooth, match-grade feel. A proprietary enhanced semi-automatic chamber is engineered to increase accuracy and precision without sacrificing dependable feeding and extraction.
Accuracy is further enhanced through Ruger's dual bedding system, which incorporates a second bedding lug to securely bed the receiver into the stock. A top barrel locator allows the barrel to remain free-floating, helping minimize external pressure on the barrel and promote consistent performance.
The 16.12-inch cold hammer-forged bull barrel is fluted to reduce unnecessary weight and assist with heat dissipation. Its Satin Black finish complements the rifle's black/gray laminate stock, while the muzzle is threaded 1/2"-28 and comes equipped with a factory muzzle brake.
Inside the action is a heat-treated and nitrided CNC-machined match bolt, designed to provide a tight fit and exceptionally smooth operation. Ruger also incorporates a match bolt release, allowing the bolt to be advanced with a quick pull and release rather than requiring manipulation of the traditional 10/22 bolt lock.
Trigger duties are handled by Ruger's popular BX-Trigger®, which provides a light, crisp 2.5- to 3-pound trigger pull with minimal overtravel and a positive reset. The trigger housing is constructed from heat-stabilized, glass-filled polymer for excellent dimensional consistency, impact resistance, and durability.
The speckled black and gray laminate stock is painted and textured to provide a secure gripping surface. Its standout feature is a fully adjustable cheek rest, which can be repositioned for different comb heights and positions. This allows shooters to establish a stable and repeatable cheek weld with their preferred optic.
Model 31120 is designed specifically around optics and therefore does not include traditional iron sights. Instead, the receiver incorporates an integral 30 MOA Picatinny rail, providing additional elevation capability for longer-range rimfire shooting.
The receiver also incorporates a rear cleaning port, allowing access to the barrel from behind the receiver for easier bore cleaning. Feeding is handled by Ruger's proven 10-round detachable rotary magazine, while an extended magazine release makes removing the flush-fitting magazine quick and straightforward.
As a Ruger Custom Shop firearm, the 10/22 Competition 31120 includes several premium extras from the factory, including a hard case, Ruger Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity, challenge coin, cleaning cloth, and decal.
