The Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan Model 57100 is a heavy-duty bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in .375 Ruger, designed for demanding hunts where power, reliability, and fast handling are essential. Featuring a compact 20-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, stainless-steel construction, Hogue® OverMolded® stock, controlled-round-feed action, express-style sights, and Ruger’s Muzzle Brake System, the Hawkeye Alaskan is purpose-built for serious big-game hunting.
At the heart of the rifle is a 20-inch cold hammer-forged barrel with a 1:12" right-hand twist. The relatively short barrel keeps overall length to just 42 inches, making the rifle easier to maneuver in dense vegetation and demanding field conditions. Ruger uses stainless-steel construction with its subdued Hawkeye Matte finish, providing a durable, corrosion-resistant configuration suitable for harsh environments.
The Hawkeye Alaskan uses Ruger’s proven Mauser-type controlled-round-feed action. Its non-rotating extractor maintains positive control of the cartridge during feeding and extraction, while a fixed blade ejector positively ejects the case as the bolt is drawn fully rearward. A rugged one-piece stainless-steel bolt complements the action.
Model 57100 is fitted with a black Hogue® OverMolded® stock molded from durable synthetic rubber. The material provides a soft, recoil-absorbing feel and a secure gripping surface while maintaining the rigidity needed for accuracy. The stock has a 13.50-inch length of pull.
For fast sight acquisition at close to moderate distances, Ruger equips the Alaskan with a shallow express-style, windage-adjustable V-notch rear sight and a large white-bead front sight. The solid-steel receiver also incorporates Ruger’s integral scope mounts, and matching scope rings are included for shooters who prefer an optic.
The rifle incorporates Ruger’s LC6™ trigger, designed to provide a smooth, crisp trigger pull for improved control. A three-position safety allows the shooter to lock the bolt or load and unload the rifle while keeping the safety engaged.
A hinged solid-steel floorplate provides access to the rifle’s 3-round internal magazine without requiring each cartridge to be cycled through the chamber. The floorplate features an engraved Ruger logo and a recessed latch designed to reduce the possibility of accidentally releasing the cartridges.
Ruger also equips the Model 57100 with its Muzzle Brake System. The 5/8"-18 threaded barrel accepts the included removable radial-port muzzle brake. Ruger also supplies a dynamically matched muzzle weight that can replace the brake without changing the point of impact for a particular load, along with a thread protector for use when neither is installed.
At 8.1 pounds, the Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan 57100 combines the substantial .375 Ruger cartridge with a relatively compact rifle platform. Its controlled-round-feed action, stainless construction, express sights, recoil-reducing stock, and configurable muzzle system make it a specialized rifle for hunters pursuing large and potentially dangerous game.
