The Ruger Mark IV™ Standard Model 40105 is a classic .22 LR semi-automatic rimfire pistol that combines the iconic styling of Ruger’s original Standard pistol with the modern features and dramatically simplified takedown system of the Mark IV generation. Featuring a 6-inch tapered cold hammer-forged barrel, 10+1 capacity, blued alloy-steel receiver, aluminum grip frame, fixed sights, and checkered synthetic grips, Model 40105 offers traditional Ruger rimfire styling in a versatile full-size configuration.

The centerpiece of Model 40105 is its 6-inch tapered barrel. Ruger cold hammer-forges the barrel to create precise rifling designed for accuracy and longevity. The longer tapered profile provides an extended sight radius while maintaining the classic lines and balance associated with Ruger’s original rimfire pistol designs.

One of the Mark IV platform's biggest improvements is Ruger's one-button takedown system. Pressing the button at the rear of the frame allows the entire barrel-receiver assembly to tilt upward and separate from the grip frame without tools, greatly simplifying field stripping and chamber-to-muzzle cleaning.

Model 40105 pairs its blued alloy-steel receiver with a one-piece, precision CNC-machined aluminum grip frame. The smoothly contoured grip provides a natural-pointing grip angle and uses replaceable checkered synthetic grip panels for a secure, non-slip hold.

The pistol uses Ruger's internal cylindrical bolt design, which keeps the sights permanently aligned with the barrel instead of placing them on a conventional reciprocating slide. A contoured ejection port and easy-to-grasp bolt ears contribute to straightforward and reliable operation.

For sighting, Model 40105 features fixed front and rear sights. Although the factory sights are fixed, Ruger drills and taps the receiver for a Weaver- or Picatinny-style optics rail, allowing a compatible rail and optic to be added.

Additional features include an ambidextrous manual safety that can be converted to left-side-only operation using the included washer, an ergonomic bolt stop, and a conveniently located left-side push-button magazine release. The magazines drop free when released, while a magazine disconnect prevents the pistol from firing when the magazine has been removed.

Ruger includes two 10-round magazines with Model 40105. At 30.1 ounces and 10.25 inches overall, this Mark IV provides the longer sight radius of a 6-inch barrel without the heavier bull-barrel construction found on Ruger's target-oriented models.
