The Ruger Mark IV™ Standard Model 40104 is a classic .22 LR semi-automatic rimfire pistol that preserves the iconic profile of Ruger’s original Standard pistol while incorporating the modern features and simplified maintenance of the Mark IV generation. Featuring a 4.75-inch cold hammer-forged tapered barrel, 10+1 capacity, blued alloy-steel receiver, aluminum grip frame, fixed sights, and checkered synthetic grips, Model 40104 offers traditional Ruger styling in a well-balanced rimfire platform.

The 4.75-inch tapered barrel gives the 40104 the classic lines associated with Ruger’s Standard series. Ruger cold hammer-forges the barrel to produce precise rifling designed for accuracy and longevity. The tapered profile also helps keep the pistol's weight to 28.2 ounces, making it lighter than many of the heavier bull-barreled Mark IV configurations.

One of the biggest improvements of the Mark IV platform is Ruger’s one-button takedown system. Pressing the button at the rear of the frame allows the barrel-receiver assembly to tilt upward and separate from the grip frame without tools, greatly simplifying field stripping and chamber-to-muzzle cleaning.

Model 40104 combines a blued alloy-steel receiver with a one-piece, precision CNC-machined aluminum grip frame. The smoothly contoured grip provides a natural-pointing grip angle and is fitted with replaceable checkered synthetic grip panels for a secure, non-slip hold.

The pistol utilizes Ruger’s internal cylindrical bolt design, keeping the sights permanently aligned with the barrel rather than mounting them on a conventional reciprocating slide. Easy-to-grasp bolt ears and a contoured ejection port contribute to straightforward and reliable operation.

For sighting, the 40104 features fixed front and rear sights. Ruger also drills and taps the receiver for a Weaver- or Picatinny-style optics rail, allowing the owner to add a compatible mounting rail and optic if desired.

Additional features include an ambidextrous manual safety, ergonomic bolt stop, and conveniently positioned left-side push-button magazine release. The safety can be converted to left-side-only operation with the included washer. Magazines drop free when released, and a magazine disconnect prevents discharge when the magazine has been removed.

Ruger includes two 10-round magazines with Model 40104. At 9 inches overall and 28.2 ounces, this configuration offers a compact alternative to the 6-inch Model 40105 while retaining the same traditional Mark IV Standard styling and feature set.
